The 20-year Master Bike Plan for Vashon Island

(Project Description Video Here)

Since the 2012 formation of BikeVashon, the group has been collecting feedback from islanders about what they would like Vashon's roads to look like 20 years from nowThis plan is the result of thousands of cumulative hours of comments and hundreds of letters written to the group, and is informed by research into the best practices as developed in the Netherlands and similar countries that have put exhaustive research into building a road system that serves all users, whether they are in cars, on bicycles, on horseback, or on foot.
Our goal is to create a road system which is safe and pleasant for Vashonites of all ages to walk, cycle, ride and drive anywhere we wish to go.  It is our belief that anyone should be able to bike or walk safely on Vashon at any time of day or night, whether they are 8 or 80 years old.

In 2014 members of BikeVashon travelled to the Netherlands to study the famous road infrastructure there in person, as well as to Dublin to study the famous pedestrian-only Grafton Street, and to Paris to experience the world's largest bike sharing system, VelibTake a look at this video to see what we learned, and check out the tabs at the top of the page to explore the plan:
